MBA: A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration and obtained atleast 50% (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying examination in 10+2+3 years pattern (or) 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years pattern (or) B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Pharm. (or) AMIE with 2 years regular full time Teaching experience / Industrial experience in the relevant field after passing all the subjects.

Note: (i)Candidates admitted through lateral entry in degree courses are not eligible except, B.E./B.Tech. degree courses
(ii)Candidates with B.E./B.Tech./M.C.A./M.Sc. degrees obtained through week-end courses and B.E./B.Tech. through distance mode are not eligible.
Those who are appearing for final year / semester examination of the above qualifying degree in April / May 2012 can also apply for TANCET 2012.
Application Form is common for all the three entrance tests. Candidates have to submit only one application. The candidates have to pay a fee of ` 500/- (` 250/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu on production of a copy of Permanent Community Certificate in card format) as entrance
test fee for any one of the programmes either (1) M.B.A. or (2) M.C.A. or (3) M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./ M.Plan.

About Exam / Programme:
Applications are invited for TANCET 2012 to be conducted by Anna University, Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamilnadu on 31st March & 1st April 2012, from candidates who seek admission to 1. M.B.A., 2. M.C.A. and 3. M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. Degree Programmes for the year 2012 – 2013 offered at University Departments / University Colleges of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and Arts & Science Colleges and Self-financing Colleges (Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges including stand-alone Institutions) in Tamilnadu. Some Universities and Self–Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the candidates on the basis of marks obtained in TANCET 2012.

Other State candidates can appear for the entrance test, but the eligibility conditions will be stipulated by the admitting authority / University.

M.B.A Test pattern:

The question paper will have sections to
i. Evaluate the candidate's ability to identify critically the data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations.
ii. evaluate the skill of the candidate in answering questions based on the passages in the comprehension.
iii. evaluate the skill on solving mathematical problems at graduate level (including those learnt in plus two or equivalent level).
iv. test on determining data sufficiency for answering certain questions using the given data and the knowledge of Mathematics and use of day - to - day facts.
v. test the knowledge on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation and the like.

Max. marks: 100
Negative marks for every wrong answer: 1/5
Multiple shading will be considered as wrong answer and 1/5 mark will be deducted.

The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc) is a National Institute of higher learning which fosters high quality fundamental research in frontier disciplines of Mathematical Sciences, viz. Theoretical Physics, Pure Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science.
IMSc is looking for bright candidates who are expected to assist System Administration work under heterogeneous(Linux/Solaris/Mac/Windows) O/S Systems in a LAN environment, Day-to-day maintenance of system components, printers, modems, O/S installations, configuration and customization of access stations, First level of trouble shooting of system H/Ws, O/Ss and S/W problems and fixing of the same, setting up for multimedia projection, web -cast, Streaming etc., Monitoring the quality of LAN/Internet bandwidth in liaison with System Administrators of the Institute.
Applications are invited for filling up of up to two temporary position of Technical Assistants from the eligible candidates who fulfil requisite qualifications/specifications mentioned below. This position is filled purely on contract basis initially for a period of one year and could be continued till the completion of XII plan period(March 2017).
Qualification & Experience
Essential : A Bachelor’s Degree in Science(Physics/Mathematics/Computer Science/IT/Computer Applications) (OR) A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Computer Science/ECE/EEE/IT) from a reputed college/Institution with minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all years/semesters.

Desirable : Completed I.T. courses covering Linux/Unix O/S. Experience in LINUX O/S, C, MySQL, Programming and Perl, PHP, Shell, Drupal/Wordpress scripting. Candidates preferably possess three or more years experience in a LINUX/UNIX based LAN environment.
Emoluments : Consolidated salary of Rs. 18,000/- per month plus HRA @ 30%. Higher salary upto Rs.20,000/m can be given in deserving cases.

About the Conference  

Nuclear radiations have many applications as well as hazards. The important applications of nuclear radiations are in Medicine, Industries, Agriculture and Power generation. The radiations from radiation sources can be harmful to human beings. The challenge is how to prevent harmful nuclear radiations from nuclear reactors and nuclear accelerators and how to manage nuclear waste in a better way. Sometimes nuclear accidents may occur due to earthquakes, tsunami, terrorist attacks, etc. Minimizing the effects of nuclear accidents is the present challenge. The shielding and protection of nuclear plants is of primary importance.
Tumkur University is organizing two-day National level Conference on “Nuclear Applications, Hazards and Safety Measures” on 10 and 11 February 2012. In the present situation the conference seems to be relevant and more useful. The conference aims to bring scientists, faculty and students involved in research in the field of nuclear reactors, nuclear accelerators, nuclear medicine, radiation monitoring, bio-leaching of radioactive ores and study the socio- economic impact of nuclear energy on the same platform.

The objective of the conference is to present state-of-the-art scientific results, encourage academic and industrial interaction and to promote collaborative research and development activities in nuclear applications, hazards and safety measures.

The Conference covers very important topics, provides grand stage to opening discussion and motivates the Scientists, Faculty, Research scholars   and students interested in Nuclear Physics.

The uniqueness of the conference is that along with Department of Physics, Department of Bio-Technology, Department of Economics, Department of Political Science and Department of Social work are actively participating in the conference. Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) is a premier national research institution under the aegis of the Department of Space, Government of India. Founded in 1947 by Dr. Vikram A. Sarabhai, PRL is known to be the “cradle of space sciences” in India. The laboratory has four campuses, located at Ahmedabad, Mt. Abu and Udaipur. The main campus in Navrangpura, Ahmedabad houses most areas of research activities with the exception of programmes in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Planetary Science & Exploration which are located at Thaltej campus in Ahmedabad. The astronomical and solar observatories are located at Mt. Abu and Udaipur, respectively.
PRL offers Junior Research Fellowships leading to a Ph.D. degree in the following broad scientific areas:

Astronomy & Astrophysics
Solar Physics
Planetary Sciences & Exploration
Space and Atmospheric Sciences
Theoretical Physics
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) programme starts usually in the month of July/August every year.

Online submission for JRF 2012 programme will start from 05/01/2012.

Eligibility criteria for applying to the JRF programme:

M.Sc. in one of the following subjects:

(1) Physics, Space Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry (Physical / Nuclear / Analytical), Geology, Geophysics, Ocean Sciences and Climate Sciences.
(2) The candidate must have taken Physics and Mathematics at the Under Graduate level.
(3) A minimum of 60% marks at Bachelor’s and Master’s level are required for all candidates.
Age Limit: Not more than 25 years as on 31st December 2011 (i.e., born on or after 31.12.1986).

Selection Procedure: 

 All the invited candidates will appear in a written test. The level of test will be based on the Post Graduate syllabi of Indian Universities. Performance in the written test and the latest scores in JEST / GATE / UGC-CSIR NET - JRF, if available, will be considered for qualifying for personal interview that will follow.
All the candidates are required to fill-in the PRL application form.
Those who qualify in the interview will be selected as JRFs at PRL. Candidates whose results are awaited at the time of interview will be admitted provisionally. They will be confirmed admission in PRL subject to their securing at least 60% marks in the qualifying examination i.e. M.Sc.
Fellowship and other relevant facilities being provided by PRL:

Selected JRFs will be paid a fellowship of ` 16,000/- per month which will be raised to ` 18,000/- per month after two years, subject to a satisfactory academic review. A book grant of ` 7,500/- per year will be given for five years to purchase books that are relevant to the research work being carried out by the Research Fellow.

International Travel Support:
Under this scheme during the entire tenure as JRFs / SRFs the research fellows may be provided a one time, full travel support for participating in an International Meeting/Conference (subject to a maximum of ` 1.0 lakh only).
In addition, all expenses connected with the registration for Ph.D. degree, such as, tuition fees and examination fees will be borne by PRL.

    The 2 year Azim Premji Foundation Fellowship program seeks to build rich perspectives on educational issues through a well designed combination of theoretical inputs and experiential learning. The program is intended to develop a strong social orientation and competencies required in the education and development sectors.

    This rigorous 2 year program comprises of:
  • 45 day classroom module to strengthen conceptual understanding of education and development issues
  • 22 months of intense field engagement at the grass roots level in the District Institutes of the Foundation.
  • Working on a live project that has significant purpose of improving quality at practice level   

During the period of Fellowship you will be based in some of the most underdeveloped districts of India.

About You

You should be a professional with at least 2 years of experience and at least a graduate degree.  We welcome people from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds as long as they are passionate about making a difference. Prior experience in the education or development sector would be an added advantage.

Stipend and Employment

You will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 25,000 or more depending on your work experience and suitability for the Fellowship. On your successful completion of the program, you may be offered employment opportunities in the Foundation, at an appropriate compensation package.


The classroom module for 45 days will be held in Bangalore during which suitable arrangements will be made for your accommodation. During the 22 month field attachment, you will have to make arrangements for stay in the districts at your own cost. The Foundation may however assist in finding suitable accommodation.

The districts to which you will be assigned include – Yadgir & Mandhya (Karnataka), Dhamtari (Chhattisgarh), Uddhamsinghnagar & Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand), Sirohi & Tonk (Rajasthan) and Mehaboobnagar (Andhra Pradesh).
